Have you ever been overwhelmed? I’m sure you have.
What about underwhelmed? That too, perhaps.
But have you ever been simply… whelmed?
Just right. Balanced. Centred.
Life often pulls us in all directions. Like Martha in our reading tonight, we can find ourselves caught up in the swirl of responsibilities, to-do lists, and the sense that everything depends on us. And yet, in the middle of that busyness, Jesus gently calls us to something deeper.
Tonight, we take a pause.
A Mary moment in the midst of Martha busyness.
A chance to stop, breathe, listen—and simply be in the presence of Christ.
As we hear again the story from Luke’s Gospel (10:38–42), may we be reminded that the “one thing needed” is not another task or solution, but the peace that comes from sitting with Jesus.
